|Description:||Supervises the operational activity and staff of the Accounting Department. Ensures the application and compliance with established operating policies and procedures. Responsible for the quality and service provided by the Department.|
|Duties:|| Verify all reconciliations performed by staff on a monthly basis to ensure that outstanding items are researched and cleared within an acceptable time frame.
Review and audit general ledger activity on a monthly basis or as needed to ensure accurate record keeping.
Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
Maintain accurate and complete personnel records including but not limited to attendance records and job descriptions in accordance with Simplicity Bank personnel policies and procedures.
Keep Management apprised of Accounting Department status as needed and through regular meetings.
Implement and maintain Simplicity Bank policies and departmental procedures in order to develop an efficient and highly productive organization. Make constructive recommendations for improvement to overall policy and procedures.
Review and analyze all internal and external reports including but not limited to Board financials and Management Reporting Package schedules.
Establish contingency plans for critical department functions that would allow for continuity of operations.
Coordinate professional and cooperative communications between the Accounting staff and other departments to facilitate accurate and timely reporting of accounting records.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
Provide adequate training and supervision in the daily operations of the Accounting Department including but not limited to, daily Federal Reserve and correspondent bank activities, employee payroll, FRB Check processing, ATM and vault reconciling, fixed assets/prepaid expenses/capital expenditures and accounts payable.
Conduct monthly staff meetings to inform staff of all pertinent Simplicity Bank issues.
Conduct personalized meetings with staff to monitor workflow and obtain feedback.
Develop an annual learning and development training plan for the Accounting staff.
Maintain good working knowledge of all products and services included in the Product Knowledge Manual.
Complete all Regulation testing with passing scores as scheduled and ensure successful completion of Regulation testing and training for the Accounting staff.
Ensure employees are coached and motivated to analyze and be sensitive to customer needs.
Assist with special projects and audit requests as assigned.
Assist all customers and fellow employees in a friendly, efficient and professional manner in accordance with established service standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
|Qualifications:|| Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, related field or equivalent skills and abilities. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead, develop, and manage a team.
Five or more years of general accounting experience at a financial institution.
Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
Ability to accurately prepare reports and review reports prepared by department members.
Ability to solve problems, exercise good judgment, monitor multiple projects, and meet all assigned deadlines.
Ability to hire, train and motivate staff to achieve departmental goals.
Ability to get along with department staff, mangers and senior management and deal effectively and professionally at all times, including when under pressure.
Ability to communicate clearly and to be understood in English, both in writing and verbally, using electronic and telephonic media and face-to-face means.
Ability to effectively access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and read small print for extended periods of time.
